What's it going to take to rebuild?

iSketch Activity has truly died. I don't know what it's going to take to be honest but something will hopefully create a relaunch to it. Does anyone know if theres any plans for it as of now?

Oh wow, never seen it empty I don't think. It obviously needs support across more platforms -- if Rob could do this I imagine there is enough brand and SEO value in the iSketch name to resuscitate it but I don't know if there are any plans, have only heard speculation.

Maybe someone closer to Rob could share some info? It would be good to get some solid info because if there is nothing in the pipeline we could start salvaging wordlists etc. from within the community and perhaps start on an open source version.

The never-utilised membership should be used.

I personally don't play as much as I used to in the old days because of the dicks and morons who spam flood cheat, have offensive names, offensive inflammatory comments, spiteful voting, writing and badly drawn porn.

If a membership was introduced even at a low price of say £7 a year (other forums such as imoc.co.uk charge around that price last I heard) I think you would get a few improvements:

1 No more " my brother drew a penis and got me banned" whines. People will logout and have their own passwords and take care who gets on isketch

2 Other members will know who they are chatting with - no more imposters

3 Risk of having membership revoked if it's abused would hopefully enforce a more mature environment

Probably other things I can't think of right now, but anyway that's my 2p worth

Yeah, it could/should be used. I imagine the barriers are mostly technical/and or time now that the software is so old.

    Makes it particularly offensive eh?

Oh yeah. It's quite annoying, trying to figure out what these muppets are actually drawing, and only when they manage to write "suk it baby" you realise, oh, its a cock. Make an effort, daaaaaammm

To be fair, I think all porn drawn on iSketch is bad. Well, I have never seen well-drawn porn there before :p

With regards to software updates, I have only heard speculation and opinion as well; there hasn't been much news or talk from official channels.
Technology these days sees pretty much everything on the Internet connected to some sort of social media, which would make for easier promoting and sharing, and I would quite agree that if the game is being rebuilt on a different platform that username registration should be built in. Maybe registrations could be social media based? I don't know; just throwing out ideas :)

This is true and, now that you mention it, this could probably be achieved on the existing implementation because, as far as I know, there is no requirement for persistent storage (e.g. a database) to make the Facebook login API work. There is also Steam which is now an OpenID provider and a publishing platform.

Someone needs to commission PewDiePie or another top profile YouTube blogger to do an iSketch video and hope for a popularity boom. Hell, I would do one myself, but my video ratings have not been decent as of late - 23 this week down from 50, having said that most of those views were mine anyway...

It needs a mobile app... I think most gaming is done on mobile nowadays... most of mine is. Clash of Clans is a drain of my time!

I would be excited to have my own profile or be able to log on FB and play. Could take off on FB! A mobile app would have me playing in between lightrail rides to/from work

BTW... ZeBadger, thank you for your wonderful iSk tools website task10.com! Ive used it for many, many years to shrink pics for my iSk profile. I always recommend it too when peeps ask how to get profile pics. ;)

What about the isk players who have multiple identities .... How do they get round this? I know from drawing styles and how they chat, there are a few regulars who for reasons known to them, like to play under different nicknames.

I guess they would need more than one fb account to link to? I dunno.

Could allow multiple sign-in methods or unverified accounts.

I've e-mailed Rob now and asked him if he's working on a non-Shockwave version and if he wants help. Also asked whether, if he is not, he would give an open source port his blessing because it feels silly me coding forum features if that coding time could be going towards rescuing the game itself from going down with Shockwave. If he says yes we will rebuilt it ourselves.

Maybe a VR version... lots of interest in that!! Needs to be done in HTML5 whatever happens.

We need to ban all the newbies. They are all rapists and murderers. Some, I assume, are good people. We will build a fire wall to keep them from coming into our game, and Rob is going to pay for it.!!! #MakeIsketchGreatAgain #Sir2016.

We were all newbies to the game at one time. I guess if you don't want them in your room, you could always make a user-created room.

At the same time though, I reckon the rules page needs condensing, or at least rewriting. How many newbies want to read long pieces of text before playing?
Maybe adopting a bulleted list with pictured examples will be quicker and easier to read and understand. Just my thoughts :)

The whole game needs to be rewritten, not just the instructions page. Nobody reads them anyway, the admins don't even know or follow the rules. Rob is wasting his money paying for the servers for the 60 something people who still play, most of which are Czech or Turkish. FFS the cyber room has more daily users than the normal rooms. The game is dead, admit it and move on with your lives. It had a good run, we had out fun.

BTW, to respond to the original post. If you click where it says "rooms" above the rooms list, it refreshes it. I log on and see 0 players all the time. Click on "rooms" and BAM! it will bump up the 32 sad souls waiting for their long lost isketch buddies to log on.

I dont even know why I am posting here, this forum gets 2 posts a month. Its over, sooner you admit it the better your lives will be.

He wasn't being serious. He was making fun of the republican party nominee, I believe. It wasn't exactly subtle.

I suspect one reason why iSketch is no longer active is because the admins insisted on booting me all the time. I hastened to inform them that few people actually took my opinions to heart and my permanent removal would be a disservice to the game; what for the controversy I generate? The relationship between controversy and publicity is distinct: reality TV producers everywhere recognise this, but alas my opinion was shunned by authority as usual and now the entire game must suffer for the decisions of the inadequate few. Your prize, admins? A flopped site whose primary clientele are minimum wage cyber love-makers. You would, of course, have expected meteoric hits if I had only been entitled to dispense my artistic criticisms at leisure. Good game, Clau. Good game, SpiritWorker, and to the other poor mortals who once governed a promising enterprise.

I'm unable to play at all, so I haven't been in a couple of weeks. Before that I could play only if I disabled my video card. I've been playing since 2000 or so, and I really miss it. I'd be very willing to pay a yearly fee to play this with my online friends!

Jeeeezus someone plz start a crowdfunding campaign already! Looks like there are a lot of people in favour of a rebuild and willing to support it financially - surely wouldn't take too much $$$ to build something at least on par with the existing platform...
